Experience

Richard qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1993 following training with another firm in the Isle of Man. Prior to commencing his professional training, he completed a degree in accountancy studies at a university in the UK. 

Richard joined Grant Thornton in 2000 and was appointed as a partner in 2006 and became a director in 2014 when the business was incorporated, a role that he still fulfils.  He has been responsible for the successful implementation of all currently and previously used Grant Thornton audit software and audit methodologies.  He has also been involved in a number of reviews of other Grant Thornton member firms and has safely steered Grant Thornton in the Isle of Man through many such internal and external reviews himself. 

Richard has over thirty years experience in the Isle of Man financial services industry and is familiar with the regulatory environment in the Isle of Man and keeps an up to date knowledge of compliance requirements facing regulated companies operating in the Isle of Man. 

Richard has been involved with the audits of many different types of organisations operating in the Isle of Man economy such as property investment and development, insurance companies, regulated fiduciary services providers, regulated gaming companies, funds, retailers and manufacturing companies.

Richard has written many articles that have been published locally and internationally.

Richard loves cycling and in his spare time loves to ride the Island’s roads in the company of his cycling club.

  • Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
  • He has also been a member of the International Compliance Association and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment
